Lorna’s career has spanned over 40 years, gaining experience in many areas of nursing, qualified as a midwife and the last 28 years working in General Practice. Honing her skillset in chronic disease management, travel health and women/men’s health, with a specialist interest in cervical screening.
In 2017 she was one of only twenty community nurses in Scotland to undertake a prestigeous development programme to be awarded the title of a Queen’s Nurse (QN). The first QNs in Scotland for 50 years. Described by many now, as a truly ‘life changing’ experience.
Lorna worked as a GPN clinical education adviser for NES, her skills and knowledge helping future GPNs on their education pathways.
In 2021, working collaboratively with HSCP Glasgow City, Jo’s Trust and enable Scotland, in the development of videos/resources for those with learning disabilities, making an informed choice to participate in cervical screening or not. This experience/knowledge is currently shared on cervical training within Greater Glasgow & Clyde.
